TJ’s Tings is a mini home-based and mobile business operated by Sandy Alexis, a Craft maker for over eight years. The main craft I produce is woven belts. The belts are designed in liberation colours of red, green and yellow or a any color of your choice and are woven from yarn.
My other crafts include stuffed animals such as ducks, dogs, cats and teddy bears, which I make from madras fabric, velvet and suede. I also create necklaces, earrings, wristlets and other items made from local bamboo, beads and local seeds.
I received my training in weaving in Antigua, where I lived for a while but now that I am back in Dominica, I currently teach young people who are interested in learning the craft.
My pieces are sold to a number of vendors as well as at a boutique in Roseau, called “Forever Young”.
