I am Artisan Julian James of Tarreau, on the west coast of Dominica. I specialize in the craft of jewelry making and souvenir craft items for both men and women.
My jewelry products lines are necklaces and earrings, made from raw materials found in Dominica, such as coconut, calabash, bamboo, cow horn, wood, shells and stones. Each of my necklace pendants and earrings are unique and designed by me and crafted by hand, cut using a scroll saw and filed by hand to a smooth finish. My other product line is souvenir key-rings, with several designs to choose from including a map of Dominica, a leaf, and a turtle, among others. These souvenirs make unique gifts for visitors to the island.
I received my craft training at the Dominica Youth Division Life Skills Centre where I had the opportunity to enhance my skills by working along with my tutor, Mr Desmond Rivierre for 5 years. Subsequent to this training, I decided to venture out on my own and in 1999, my business “Natural Mystic Creationz” was born.
I continue to experiment with all types of natural materials which are found on the island as there is a special uniqueness about each type of material which gives my customers a special appreciation.
My pieces are sold from my home-based location, the Roseau Market and a few shops on the island as well as at craft fairs and in Guadeloupe.
