Marie's Craft plus

Marie’s Craft Plus is a craft business owned by Marian Carbon. My home-based craft business specializes mainly in sewing and smocking, using various types of fabric to make dolls, hats, bags, table mats, throw cushions, and quilted pieces. Each piece is labeled with a “Made in Dominica” identification, which make each piece an ideal souvenir for visitors to the island. My dolls and cushions are made from either madras fabric or they are smocked.

I also utilize a natural material, called loofah sponge, to make scrubs for use in the kitchen.

As a teenager growing up, sewing was always a hobby of mine, and as a result I attended several skills training programs in my community which allowed me to start a full-time sewing business. My business continued for a few years, after which time I diversified my product by including doll decorating, quilting, smocking and the use of natural material in the loofah kitchen product.

I will always continue to move forward with my craft by incorporating new designs with my sewing and smocking skills.
My products are sold within my village of Woodfordhill on the north-eastern coast of Dominica and I also take any opportunity to sell at craft fairs around the island.
