Aunty Shirley’s Sewing is owned by Artisan, Shirley George. I specialize in bags made from fabric, as well as custom made uniforms.
My bags are beautifully crafted using plain as well as patterned fabric with an emphasis on the use of Dominica’s creole fabric of madras. They are made in various sizes and designs and decorative trimmings and wooden and other types of handles are used to embellish my designs.
Sewing was always my passion from a very young age and although I have been employed in other fields in Dominica and other countries, I have never let my passion for sewing die. In 2009, I decided to let my passion become my main income earner so I created a niche for my creative bags.
My bags are sold from my shop in the village of Mahaut, where I live, on the west coast of the island.
